I just deleted a post from this morning.
I sold out.
I thought it was better to delete (oh, I saved a copy...don't you worry) it than to worry about people getting defensive...and who really cares anyhow, right?
What's the point in railing against anything in a blog? It's fun, sure...but once people assume it's about them - then pride, defensiveness, gingivitis and scorn get thrown in the mix
I have people ask me all the time if I wrote something about them... I'd rather just delete this one (that I now have off my chest) than worry about people freaking out.
I'm soft.
I'll be the guy whimpering somewhere on the back of the bus...
I read it...I memorized it...I will be reposting it so all can read.
ReplyDeleteAs your friend, I just won't let you sell out like that. (Especially since I just watched V for Vendetta.)
was this post about me?
ReplyDeleteIt saddens me that you would delete a post. It saddens me that you would take something away that you created. It was important. I know because it came from you. And you are Sean Michael Murphy.
ReplyDeleteThat post could have been about me. I accept that. I know that I have more faults than strengths, and I know that I have a lot of growth left to endure. And endure is a carefully chosen word given my track record of blog comments.
SMM, I believe that you have the character to speak truths into someone's life and do so in a manner that encourages growth. To believe that someone would be concerned that you have written something about them shows immaturity on their part, not yours.
Your perception of Humanity is written into the context of your posts, and I see that. I may agree or disagree, but it's still a pretty clear perception of what exists in a lot of people. If some can't handle that, then that is a fault those individuals need to come to terms with.
I understand the need to sensor yourself, it comes with maturity and experience, but please don't use the sensor button because you're afraid of what someone might see in themselves. Don't use the sensor button because you're afraid someone might freak out. That would be a tragedy to the whole purpose of writing at all.
Oh, and I need a black bic. Do you know of anyone who happens to specialize in this pen; where I can find one in short notice?
and i got to watch V for Vendetta with Fuller. You jealous? He was like 6 feet away from me the whole time.
ReplyDeleteI got to watch V is for Vendetta with Fuller too...and he was like six feet from me...and so were you and Dressler
ReplyDeleteand that night will live on in magical infamy for the rest of my life.
ReplyDeletei was talking about last night getting to watch with fuller so close again.
oooooh....i'm getting chills just remembering all the spectacular moments i've had with him.
...and with you too, even though those are much fewer.
