the pop-in

We love the pop-in here. It's become increasingly difficult to go out and do stuff with friends now that we have three kids in the house (2 in diapers) so it's nice when people come to us. Occasionally we push that a little bit. We didn't ever go more than 14 days in Pennsylvania without having overnight guests.

We were right in between two major highways - so part of the deal was that if anyone was headed to NY, Philly, Ohio or just about anywhere else - they'd stop by our house. It was kind of nice.

We had a visitor this weekend who left this morning - we have two visitors tonight 'til Thursday - and four more guys coming Tuesday and Wednesday.

So our new difficulty is where do you take someone who is visiting Cincinnati?

Griff just went to a movie, the zoo, Chuck E. Cheese, The Children's Museum, The pool, the park, Putt Putt, and a few places I'm sure I'm forgetting. These are all places you take a 5 year old.

So where do we take some 20-somethings?

  1. one of cincinnati's big issues is that cincinnati itself is still figuring out where to take 20-somethings. but that's a whole other post...

maybe... kings island, the zoo (which does a lot of unique research stuff), the art museum (which is free), the contemporary art center (not free but dirty cheap and pretty cool), one or two of the many pretty parks in the area, quick drive up to monroe to see the Touchdown Jesus, live music venues and stuff (like anywhere ashley peacock or katie reider are playing), ludlow avenue, hyde park kroger (jk)... at least that's all stuff i like...

Try the Pavillion in Mt. Adams. I know, I know...it is a bar, but they actually serve food and you do not have to drink alcohal and they have pretty good bands out on the deck. The view from the top of the deck is one of the best in the city, overlooking downtown.

May I suggest the Levee, and the Hoffbrau Haus....loads of fun, appetizers, and BEER samples...and lots of crazy dancing and singing.
