the power of story

We haven't made our New Year's plans yet.

There's a lot of pressure to do something fun on this last night/first day of the year. I remember trying to go out to a restaurant a couple of times on New Year's Eve and it's insane. People will sit and wait for three hours to get into an Olive Garden.

I decided a while ago that it's just not that big of a deal to be out doing something awesome during the last minute and first minute of the year. Ultimately I think we really want to do something great because we know people are going to ask.

"So what are your New Year's plans?"
"So what did you do for New Year's Eve?

and we need a story...
We need to prove that we have the ability to go out and have fun. We can stay up past midnight and we don't have a curfew any more!

It's all about the story.

  1. Maybe tell them you are rehearsing or writing a Christmas play for next year.

  2. party at the wygant house. you and the family are cordially(?) invited.

  3. new years is over rated. no two ways about that. but i'm with ya on the story thing. it is all about the d%@n story. happy new years a bit early...i may not have time to tell you that new years eve as i have REALLY huge exciting plans. i'll tell you ALL about it later.

  4. Anonymous8:58 AM

Come visit the Sublett's in Happy Valley! :-)

  5. Most years, I do something I don't even want to do because I can't just sit around and watch a movie on New Year's Eve, or play scrabble. What a silly little bunch we are.
