the chicken or the egg

So is it -
if you're a child actor, you're going to end up being short

or

If you're going to end up being a short adult, your parents are more predisposed to trying to get you to be a child actor?

Can you think of any child actors that grew up to be more than 5' 6"?

  1. Wow...now that I think about it...not many did not need a step stool to see eye to eye with the bank teller when cashing those big checks....

    Jason Bateman
    Todd Bridges
    Matt Dillon
    Brooke Shields
    Ron Howard
    Tim Matheson
    The Olsen Twins together
    MacKenzie Phillips

  2. I was a bit skeptical at first about the shortness factor and the child actor crowd, but I was very surprised at how not-so-tall child actors grow to be.

The biggest exception on the list is Brooke Shields at 6' 0". Even Ron Howard (5' 9") is slightly less than average height.

You said 5' 6" - so add to the list the not-so-tall:

    brother Clint Howard, 5' 7"
Butch Patrick (Eddie Munster), 5' 7"
    Jerry Mathers (Beaver), 5' 7"
Tony Dow (Wally Cleaver), 5' 8"

  3. Dr. House!?!?
I'm a big fan if you are...heck, even if you aren't - those are some impressive stats you rang up.
I'd say that Brooke and Ron were already fully grown by the time they got into the acting deal. It's still kind of interesting to me...

Brooke was about 12 when she made "Pretty Baby" and did you forget about Opie.
